tender Background

About the Funding Agency

Inclusion Research Institute is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation chartered in Washington DC. The mission of IRI is to increase the inclusion of all people, especially children and adults with disabilities, in all aspects of society, including healthcare, employment, education, transportation, and preparations for emergencies and disasters.

IRI provides training, technical assistance, and online or print materials to organizations to improve their services to clients and to enhance their own viability and effectiveness. These activities are researched, developed, and implemented using IRI’s proprietary Active Engagement Model, which guides discovery of new ways to create productive engagement of individuals and organizations with each other and their communities.

Research subjects include evacuation in disasters, healthcare access, workforce development, transportation, and voting.  Active engagement concepts are applicable to a wide variety of other areas.

An important component of IRI is the Inclusive Preparedness Center (IPC), which uses Active Engagement Planning to help people and organizations prepare together for emergencies and disasters.

In recent years, IRI and IPC have carried out numerous policy and innovation projects with medical systems and government agencies to improve community and family health care.
