the WASH Team Leader will:
Ensure timely and quality implementation (according to international and AAH standards) of the WASH activities portfolio in the field base
timely and accurate reporting of undertaken activities
Manage the WASH team
Contribute to programme development through participating to multi-sector integrated needs assessments and leading technical needs assessments
Liaise and coordinate with external stakeholders in own technical area (WASH)
Key activities in your role will include
Objective 1: Ensure timely and quality implementation of the WASH activities portfolio in the field base
Act as a technical manager for the WASH projects under his/her area of responsibility
Ensure that projects target beneficiary sites/units most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist
Provide data and information necessary for development of project concept notes and proposals
Ensure that the implementation of WASH and Rehabilitation activities are being done as agreed with local authorities and agencies, and in line with validated plans, budget and timeframes
Objective 2: Ensure timely and accurate reporting of undertaken activities
Ensure monthly reporting of activities including achievements, challenges and explaining deviation with targets
Objective 3: Manage the WASH team within the area of responsibility
Manage and support the WASH and Rehabilitation team in area of responsibility building team spirit, efficiency, and optimum utilization of resources
Support identification of capacity building needs, and planning and resourcing capacity building initiatives for WASH and Rehabilitation team
Objective 4: Contribute to programme development through participating to multi-sector integrated needs assessments and leading technical needs assessments
Provide inputs for formulation of WASH and Rehabilitation project submissions to address the needs, taking into consideration the sector’s technical standards and AAH mandate and policy priorities
Lead the WASH component of the Multisectoral Needs Assessment within his/her area of responsibility
Objective 5: Liaise and coordinate with external stakeholders in own technical area WASH
Actively participate in sub-sector meetings and relevant technical working groups at local level
Coordinate interventions with all relevant technical stakeholders to ensure complementarity, synergy and avoid overlapping
Do you meet the profile required criteria?
Degree and/or master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental or Agriculture Engineering.
Degrees in Hydrology, Public Health, Geography or similar could be also considered.
Certification in project management is preferred
Solid project cycle management knowledge and leading technical teams
Proved experience in conducting needs assessments, and leading field data collection
Technical knowledge in implementing WASH interventions, including water, sewage, and rehabilitation works.
Good experience in reporting, and sound writing skills
Knowledge of the local context especially north-east, cultures and conflict drivers is essential.
Previous experience in the humanitarian field as Team Leader or similar (at least 1 year) and preferably with AAH
Good experience in working with local/national partners, Ministries, experience in implementing WASH interventions and capacity building for partners. Experience in external representation of the organization is preferred
English (compulsory working language, fluent spoken, read and written)
Windows domain, Compulsory expertise in Excel, Sphinx (desirable) Experience in Engineering software is highly desirable (AutoCAD, WaterCAD, EPANet, WEAP, etc) Knowledge of GIS is desirable
Our remuneration package:
Contract period: 6 months renewable base on Action Against Hunger fund and performance.
Salary/benefits: According to Action Against Hunger's salary scale and terms and conditions.
Duty station: Hassakeh
