Women leading transformation — We are seeking a highly qualified woman professional to serve as Senior Expert for Knowledge Management and Gender (KMG) within an ambitious, multi-actor Integrated Landscape Management (ILM) initiative in the Lake Chamo region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic advice on the role of women and youth in watershed user associations and other participatory forums.

  • Develop and operationalize tools to foster dialogue on gender equality across all stakeholders.

  • Lead the design and dissemination of visibility and communication materials showcasing project results and lessons learned.

  • Ensure the integration of gender and social safeguards throughout project implementation.

  • Organize knowledge-sharing events with partners to promote gender-sensitive ILM practices.

  • Supervise the creation and maintenance of knowledge management systems (databases, documentation, visuals).

  • Develop ToRs for short-term consultants to capture best practices and success stories.

  • Produce communication content in line with GIZ standards (print, online, social media, podcasts, videos).

  • Lead and coordinate advocacy and community engagement activities (campaigns, contests, fairs, symposiums).

  • Contribute to project monitoring, reporting, and support administrative activities.

  • Coordinate with GIZ and other key development partners (KfW, Arba Minch University, etc.) to advance ILM strategies.

  • Provide input on the recruitment and supervision of experts for studies, training, and knowledge-related tasks.


Required Qualifications

  • University degree (BA or MSc) in Gender Studies, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Communication, Environmental Journalism, or Public Relations.

  • Language proficiency:

    • English at C1 level (CEFR)

    • Amharic at B2 level


Required Experience

  • 8 years of professional experience spanning:

    • Communication sector (4 years)

    • Social development sector (6 years)

  • At least:

    • 4 years in advocacy and community mobilization with media engagement

    • 4 years in designing and managing knowledge systems

    • 4 years promoting gender equality

    • 4 years in strategic communication planning

  • 5 years of professional experience in Ethiopia or the region of assignment
