Senior Experts in Green&Circular Business Development

Call for Key Experts – Green and Circular Economy Project 

We are seeking high-qualified experts with proven working experience in the MENA region and with GIZ to be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering technical assistance in support of green and circular business development, SME support, and sustainability-focused innovation. The assignment will involve activities such as capacity building, business model development, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of circular economy practices. 

Team Leader (International Expert)

• University degree in economics or business management (e.g. master’s or German Diplom)
• Knowledge of English at C2 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
• 7 years of professional experience as a consultant or in a permanent role within the innovation ecosystem (e.g. university, research institute, accelerator), with defined responsibility for providing business support services such as applied research, product/service development, technology transfer, or business scale-up
• 3 consulting assignments (each with 30+ expert days in the last 5 years), including:
• 2 assignments focused on setting up acceleration programmes for green and circular business models
• 1 assignment strengthening the organizational capacity of business support organizations (e.g. Business Associations, Technology Transfer Offices)
• 5 years of management experience with disciplinary responsibility for at least 10 people
• 5 years of professional experience in Europe or North America
• 2 years of professional experience in the MENA region
• 2 years of experience in development cooperation projects

KE2 - Deputy Team Leader (National)

• University degree in environmental management or engineering
• Knowledge of Arabic at C2 level and English at C1 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
• 3 assignments in Jordan (each with 30+ expert days in the last 5 years), including:
• 2 assignments advising SMEs on implementing sustainable business practices (e.g. Sustainability Reporting, ESG Strategies, Life Cycle Assessments, RECP)
• 1 assignment advising business support organizations on developing service offers in sustainability fields
• 3 assignments in Jordan (each with 30+ expert days in the last 5 years), including:
• 2 assignments advising SMEs in developing green and circular business models
• 1 assignment advising SMEs on integrating circular economy principles into production or service delivery (e.g. circular design, material substitution, technology roll-out, closing material loops)
• 3 years of management experience with disciplinary responsibility for at least 5 people
• 2 years of experience in development cooperation projects

KE3 - Circular Business Models Experts

• Master’s degree in economics, business management, or innovation management
• Knowledge of English at C2 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
• 4 assignments (each with 30+ expert days in the last 5 years) providing methodological guidance to SMEs in managing innovation processes (e.g. Design Thinking, Circo Track)
• 2 assignments (each with 30+ expert days in the last 5 years) providing advisory services to SMEs in developing circular business models (e.g. product design, material substitution, product-as-a-service models, sharing models, repair & maintenance services, resource recovery)
• 5 years of professional experience in Europe and/or North America and/or East/Southeast Asia and/or Australia
• 1 year of professional experience in the MENA region

KE4 - Communication and Knowledge Management Expert

• Bachelor’s degree in communication or business management
• Knowledge of Arabic at C2 level and English at C1 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
• 5 assignments (each with 30+ expert days in the last 5 years) developing communication materials targeting the business community (e.g. success stories, business cases)
• 2 assignments (each with 30+ expert days in the last 5 years) developing training materials for the business community

KE5 -  Business Model Development Expert

• Bachelor’s degree in business management
• Knowledge of Arabic at C2 level and English at C1 level (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
• 5 assignments (each with 30+ expert days in the last 5 years) providing methodological support to SMEs in designing, refining, or transforming their business models (e.g. using structured frameworks like the Business Model Canvas)
• 4 assignments in Jordan (each with 30+ expert days in the last 5 years), including:
• 2 assignments developing market analysis for sustainable products or services
• 2 assignments developing supply or value chain analysis for sustainable products or services
