Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is a dynamic, international non-governmental organisation. We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence, protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath, and help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.

 

OVERVIEW

 

Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is an international organization based in Geneva, Switzerland, that has been active in civilian protection work in the Philippines since 2007. Using the methodology of Un-armed Civilian Protection, our work aims to strengthen local peace structures, deter violations against civilians, and encourage protection capacities in conflict-affected communities in partnership with local civil society. Our mandate for implementing includes monitoring and reporting individuals’ concerns about safety, protective accompaniment for civilians and organizations in areas of conflict in BARMM and adjacent provinces, including Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Norte, SGA, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi. NP creates safe spaces for peaceful dialogue between different stakeholders in the country, including local institutions, for community-based conflict prevention and conflict resolution, training local leaders and organizations in UCP methodologies for monitoring and civilian protection.

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Under the guidance and supervision of the Finance Officer, the TPMT Project Associate (TPMT PA) will support the Third-Party Monitoring Team (TPMT) in the effective management, administration, and prudent utilization of financial resources. This includes ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in financial transactions. The incumbent will also be responsible for handling selected EU-related financial processes within Nonviolent Peaceforce and for monitoring the liquidation reports submitted by EU direct partners, GZOPI and UNYPAD, ensuring they meet required financial and reporting standards.

 

This EU-funded project has a total duration of 40 months.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. TPMT Support: Coordinate travel, logistics, payments, and financial tracking; post transactions in QuickBooks; and maintain organized documentation.
  2. EU Project Finance: Handle check payments, update the cashbook, file financial documents, and support audit preparation and donor compliance.
  3. Partner Support (UNYPAD & GZOPI): Review liquidation reports, guide partners on financial policy compliance, and track expenditure trends.
  4. Back-Up & Mentorship: Provide support in the absence of the Finance Officer and help onboard new staff on finance procedures.
  5. Coordination: Act as the point of contact for finance-related queries between TPMT, EU partners, and NPP.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

 

  • University degree in accountancy and relevant training in finance, accounting, budgeting, compliance review.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in finance, accounting and budgeting processes and management particularly in international development organizations with multi-cultural office environment.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with donor compliance requirements, procurement procedures, and financial reporting standards applicable to NGOs.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Prior experience working in a non-governmental or not-for-profit organization, particularly with international donors or EU-funded projects.
  • Working knowledge or certification in QuickBooks Online is a strong asset.
  • Local resident of Cotabato City.
  • If not a resident, willing to relocate in Cotabato City

  • Strong command of written and spoken English; able to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity in financial transactions and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and coordination abilities; able to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and assess compliance risks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with diverse teams across functional areas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); advanced IT literacy is desirable.
