Job Summary:

Nicholas O'Dwyer is seeking a number of Mechanical Engineers to play a pivotal role in delivering wastewater infrastructure projects in Mersin, Turkey. This role will support the technical assurance and delivery of the mechanical components of wastewater treatment plants in multiple locations within the municipality of Mersin.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As a Mechanical Engineer, working in collaboration as part of a larger team is essential for this role;
  • Take ownership and lead on all technical matters associated with mechanical components during the design review, construction supervision and defects notification period phases;
  • Check adequacy of the Contractors’ preliminary design based upon own calculations and evaluations;
  • During construction, ensure mechanical components are executed as per the approved design, specifications and drawings and provide assurance as to the quality and standards of the materials and workmanship;
  • Advise the project Senior Management team of any issues identified during the different phases of the project;
  • Support with the preparation of progress reports and other deliverables, as required.
  • Attend progress and site meetings as required.
  • Attend factory testing as required.
  • Responsibility to maintain regular updates and communicate on project progress, both internally and externally with the client.
  • Maintaining a culture of continuous improvements across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
  • Training will be provided to fulfil the requirements of your role, your participation to all essential training will be required.
  • To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company's evolving needs, additional tasks and responsibilities will form part of this role as it evolves

Key Requirements:

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum.  
  • Proven technical competence in design or design review, and construction supervision, as Mechanical Engineer in the delivery of Wastewater Treatment Plants. 
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience.  
  • Minimum 5 years of specific design experience: 
  • design or design review in water or wastewater treatment projects as Mechanical Engineer.  
  • Minimum 5 years of specific supervision services: 
  • construction or construction supervision services of wastewater treatment plant construction projects (Minimum 2No. large scale Projects),  
  • wastewater treatment plant operations or supervision of comparable nature, scale and complexity as a mechanical engineer or equivalent position. 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Turkish is required.  
  • Experience in the region is desirable. 
  • Experience in the delivery of projects financed by International Financial Institutions (such as EBRD, IFC, AFD, WB, ADB, AfDB) and under FIDIC Conditions of Contract, will be an advantage  
  • Competent in office packages, Microsoft, excel PowerPoint etc. 
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage many tasks concurrently.  
  • Excellent clear and concise communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
