Description

About the Role:

We are looking for multiple highly experienced Government Relations Advisors to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will help our corporate clients navigate the policy landscape in select African countries, build and sustain strong institutional relationships, and support the smooth execution of mining projects on the ground.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor and analyse political developments, mining policies, and regulatory changes in the target countries, and deliver timely, forward‑looking advice to our leadership team to help mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities.
  2. Engage effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders – including senior government officials, key industry players, community leaders, and media representatives – to address and resolve policy- and management-related challenges that arise during project implementation.
  3. Develop and manage positive media relationships to help our clients shape and protect the local reputation of their projects.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience at a senior level within the mining regulatory authority, policy-making bodies, major mining corporations, or industry associations in the target countries; or well-established and stable professional networks with such institutions, supported by a track record of leveraging these networks to drive significant initiatives.
  2. In-depth knowledge of the mining administration framework, industry regulations, supervisory mechanisms, competitive dynamics, and local business culture in the relevant countries.
  3. Strong communication, writing, and problem-selling skills; fluency in English is required, with proficiency in French a distinct advantage.
  4. Ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government decision-makers, business leaders, community representatives, and the media.

What We offer:

  1. Competitive project-based remuneration ($300-$1000 per month, final remuneration based on quality of advisory work);
  2. Flexible working hours with full remote support;
  3. Opportunities for meaningful engagement with leading experts in policy research.
