This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in UN Development Business No. 632 of 16 June 2004. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of the Vietnam Urban Upgrading Project (VUUP) – Namdinh City Sub-project and intends to apply part of the funds to cover eligible payments under the Contract for Construction of Main Ring Canal for northern basin of Nam Dinh city (Contract package CP11). The Construction and Investment Management Unit of Nam Dinh City now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for: # Construction and completion of the Main Ring Canal with about 5.1km length including completion of 0.9km of reinforced concrete box culvert, 0.9 km of traffic road with 10.5m width of car passage and 5.0m of sidewalk above the culvert completely with drainage and street lighting system; and 4.2km of open canal with wet masonry stone embankments, 02 bridges over the canal and some flushing gates from the existing irrigation system to the canal. The construction period is 15 months. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, May 2004, revised in October 2006, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. The bidding documents may be received directly at the address (2) below or sent by a courier service on the bidder's specific request and upon payment of an additional nonrefundable of VND 190,000 for domestic delivery within Vietnam or USD 50 for overseas delivery.
