Description

The Government of Uganda represented by the Uganda National Roads Authority has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Transport Sector Development Project, and plans to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

2. The consulting services ("the Services") include the Design Review/Update of the engineering designs for the Zirobwe - Wobulenzi Road. The 24 km road links the recently upgraded Kampala-Gayaza-Zirobwe road to the main corridor from Kampala to northern Uganda and South Sudan at Wobulenzi and would serve to decongest the Kampala-Bombo-Wobulenzi road.

3. The objective of the assignment is for the Consultant to review and update the designs prepared in 2002 to ensure that the designs meet the current required engineering standards. The design review period will be 5 (Five) months.

4. The Uganda National Roads Authority now invites eligible consulting firms ("Consultants") to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. The short listing criteria are: eligibility, organizational setup, experience in similar assignments, experience in similar conditions and availability of appropriate skills among staff.

The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to paragraph 1.9 of the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants [under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants] by World Bank Borrowers (May 2004 revised October 2006 and May 2010) ("Consultant Guidelines"), setting forth the World Bank's policy on conflict of interest.

Consultants may associate with other firms in the form of a joint venture or a sub-consultancy to enhance their qualifications.

A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the Quality and Cost Based Selection method set out in the Consultant Guidelines.
