The Public Works Department (PWD) of the Government of Rajasthan in India has primary responsibility for the construction and upkeep of roads, bridges, and civil institutions and also serves as a technical advisor to the State Government. Since its establishment, PWD has aspired to excellence through securing contracts for engineering feats and innovation and it continues to advance information technology.
The main functions of the PWD are to develop and maintain the public parks and gardens of important public buildings, design, construct, maintain and repair Government buildings and supervise any construction approach on both sides of roads for private individuals, other institutions, and factories. PWD maintains a total road length of more than 201064 kilometers and is also responsible for the upkeep of state structures across Rajasthan and beyond incorporating programs relating to civil engineering and roads and bridges including flood control, decreasing road damage during the rainy seasons, and safety for people.
