The Republic of Indonesia's Supreme Court is the country's independent judicial branch representing the final court of appeal and undertaking the maintenance of the court system. The high courts (Pengadilan Tinggi) and district courts are overseen by the Supreme Court (Pengadilan Negeri). There are 68 high courts in total, including 31 General Courts, 29 Religious Courts, 4 Administrative Courts, and 4 Military Courts whose main objectives are based on the reformation of the Supreme Court, strengthening the position and functions of the legal system, developing technical equipment and human resources development in the technical and managerial aspects of the judiciary.
