Description

For more than a decade, FHI 360’s experts have worked on a range of critical human development issues in Jordan, offering solutions tailored to the local context. Our efforts focus on long-term economic growth with a focus on underserved Jordanian populations, as well as building the capacity of local civil society organizations to help them effectively identify and address the needs of their communities.

Our Jordan Local Enterprise Support (LENS) project empowers local communities to design and implement collaborative, local, economic development initiatives, which in turn bolster the vitality and competitiveness of micro- and small enterprises that are often at the heart of individual, family and community livelihoods within vulnerable populations. Jordan LENS is a key project in the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) strategy to support comprehensive development in the country.

FHI 360 also works to strengthen civil society, enhance education and more. The five-year USAID Civic Initiatives Support project expanded and deepened civic engagement in Jordan through targeted, mission-driven grant programs, capacity building and enhanced engagement among the government and civil society organizations.

Through our Drive to Read project in Jordan’s East Amman and Zarqa neighborhoods, we brought free literacy, cultural and drama activities to children who otherwise might not have had access to these educational opportunities. Our experts have also worked to improve water efficiency and strengthen sustainable agricultural practices.
