With a privileged location on the western coast of the Iberian Peninsula, the port of Aveiro serves the vast economic hinterland of the central and northern areas of the country and central Spain, as well as the various industrial sectors in the region. It registers a movement of around 5.5 million tons, with ample areas for uncovered and covered storage. As a national port infrastructure with recent and multifunctional planning, it has a well-ordered and integrated area, with 7 specialized terminals with approximately 4 km of quay and 1 intermodal logistics zone. The availability of spaces, associated with its usual decongestion, allows the port of Aveiro to be a reference in the movement of project cargo, by studying and offering the best solutions, tailored to each project. The North multipurpose terminal offers capacity not only for handling and storage, but also for value-added assembly activities, which imply more time-consuming operations. The port of Aveiro also has a rail infrastructure connected to the rail corridor of the Trans-European Transport Network. Road access, on the highway, is not very congested and connects the port to the main cities in the country and Spain. The fluidity of these accesses makes the port of Aveiro an important transport development node.
