The Commission nationale pour la protection des données (abbreviated CNPD ), translated data protection commission , is a public establishment in Luxembourg , whose role is to monitor the lawfulness of the processing of personal data and the observance of fundamental freedoms and –ensure rights in relation to personal data. The Commission is empowered to receive and act upon complaints and requests for review. Another role is to advise the government. In addition, the CNPD must ensure that the provisions of the law of 30 May 2005 in the field of electronic communication are complied with.
