The surface area of the district, surrounded by the Black Sea in the north, Boyabat and Durağan in the south, Dikmen in the east and Sinop in the west, is 594 km 2 . It is 13 miles from the sea and 39 km from the city center by road. Gerze, which is 132 km away from Samsun, has Dede Mountain and Hasan Mountain, as well as Elma and Köse Mountains, whose heights reach 900 meters. The villages are located in three residential areas: inside the forest, at the forest edge, on the coast and in the plain. While it had 71 villages and 1 sub-district, Dikmen sub-district became a district by adding 31 villages to it on 20 May 1990. 42 villages in Gerze district have a scattered settlement structure due to the slope of the land. It has a rich forest structure due to the abundant rainfall that is characteristic of the Black Sea climate. Trees such as pine, beech, oak, fir, hornbeam and ash extending from the coast to high altitudes form this rich forest texture. Apart from these, the forests are adorned with cranberry, laurel, hazelnut, blackberry, arbutus, rhododendron, dwarf juniper and poplar trees, as well as various meadow grasses. Various orchards and olive groves in the valleys constitute a separate aspect of the vegetation. There is not a big difference in the average temperature between summer and winter in the district. The average temperature is around 7 C in winter and rises to 20 C in summer . The average annual temperature is 14 C. The hottest month is July and the coldest month is February. The average annual precipitation is 690 mm3 . Rains are generally intense in the spring months. The average number of clear days is 47, the average number of overcast days is 123, the average number of snowy days is 6.2, the average number of foggy days is 18.6, the average number of cloudy days is 194.5. The average humidity rate in the district is 79%, and the sea water temperature is 14-15 C. Generally, during the winter months, land winds, heliotrope and north winds blow from the sea, and southwest winds blow from the land. In addition to the plateaus such as Altmış Dörtoğlu, Güdekoğlu, Avlasökü, Altunyayla, which have characteristics of climate and vegetation, the main rivers are Çakıroğlu Stream, Garlic Stream and Sarıyer Stream. There is also the valley formed by the Çakıroğlu plain and the Çakıroğlu stream arising from the Dranaz Mountain. As for the population, according to the 2011 census, the population of Gerze district center is 14,000. The population of the villages is 13,222. The total population is 27,222. The district's summer population and winter population differ greatly. With the onset of summer, especially in July, the population increases to 35,000. The natural beauties of Gerze district, located on the sea coast, its wide plateau and forest presence and its crystal clear sea bring dynamism to tourism.
