Description

World Vision has been working in Myanmar since 1991, with current operations in 13 out of 14 states/regions. World Vision is one of the largest international NGOs operating in Myanmar, with over 700 full-time staff and 3,000 volunteers who work in 34 programme areas and over ten special projects.

Programmes span a range of sectors including education, health, agriculture, livelihoods, and child protection. A microfinance program began operating in 1998, with the number of clients increased up to over 60,000.

World Vision also has a significant disaster response capability, with pre-positioned supplies in warehouses in Yangon and Mandalay. Community-based disaster risk reduction is an increasing programmatic emphasis. As a leading humanitarian agency in Myanmar, World Vision continues to offer relief support to internally displaced people in Kachin state and rehabilitation support to areas affected by the 2015 floods in Ayeyarwady, Magway and Sagain Regions, and landslides in Chin State.
