Understanding of the functioning of election management bodies.

Understanding of assessing media landscape and media framework.

Legal expertise and practical experience in elections/democratisation, human rights (esp. minorities and women’s rights), rule of law (including Shari’a law), institution building, justice reform and constitutional reform, amongst others. Special stress on the interaction of Shari’a law with statutory law, factual and traditional restrictions on women’s rights.

Identification and management of projects in the area of human rights, peace-building and democratization in difficult environments; knowledge of and field experience in political assessment and analysis, political party functioning; knowledge of and field experience in human rights issues;knowledge of and field experience in assessing the political landscape and human rights, according to international and regional commitments/standards, particularly as regards in the context of elections.
