Technologies for optronic detectors

Objectives: The call topic EDF-2025-DA-SENS-IRD-STEP focuses on advancing the development of next-generation Read-Out Integrated Circuits (ROICs) for infrared detectors, essential for enhancing the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB). The objectives are to integrate detection circuits onto ROIC platforms and incorporate them into demonstrators to improve the technological readiness of advanced ROIC designs. These efforts aim to secure the EU's technological sovereignty by reducing dependency on non-EU supply chains and bolstering the EU’s defense capabilities. Collaborations with multiple EU IR detector providers are encouraged to achieve cost-sharing in accessing advanced CMOS nodes, addressing critical applications in defense like missile guidance and systems with enhanced detection and recognition performance. The initiative aligns with the STEP regulation, promoting investment in deep and digital technologies to strengthen security of supply and operational efficiency across the Union.
