Submissions open for EcoHack Grant Program – Palestine
Reference: PSE22004-10069
The Belgian development agency Enabel has launched a Call for Proposals under its “Empowered Youth in Green Palestine” and “Enhance Resilience of Micro-businesses and Create Sustainable Livelihood Opportunities in the West Bank and Gaza – Phase II (SAWA-II)” programs, focusing on green innovation through hackathons.
The impact of this Call for Proposals is to contribute to supporting and strengthening the Palestinian economy in its transition towards a Green and Circular Economy. The outcome aims to establish and promote enabling frameworks for the green and circular economy (GCE) while supporting GCE and entrepreneurship in the West Bank. The expected results include the creation and promotion of enabling frameworks for GCE in the West Bank, the capacitation of participating entrepreneurs in the themes of GCE and decent work principles, and the overall support of entrepreneurship in the Green and Circular Economy. The expected outputs consist of 55 shortlisted ideas and solutions to environmental challenges participating in a hackathon, 33 financially supported ideas, 100% of entrepreneurs trained on GCE, business development, and entrepreneurship, 85% of participating entrepreneurs demonstrating awareness of GCE and decent work principles, and the development of one business modeling toolkit.
Applicants can request a grant amount between EUR 400,000 and EUR 450,000, with the total indicative budget available set at EUR 450,000. Each selected team of entrepreneurs that completes the technical support requirements will receive an average of EUR 8,000 in financial support to implement their ideas.
The hackathons must be organized in at least two regions of the West Bank, covering both North/Middle and South Governorates. A minimum of 55 entrepreneurial teams will be shortlisted, out of which 33 innovative and feasible solutions will be financially supported. The program prioritizes youth entrepreneurs (ages 18–29), women, and vulnerable groups, ensuring inclusion and equitable participation.
Eligible applicants include NGOs, INGOs, CSOs, PSUOs, and other legal entities established or represented in Palestine with demonstrated experience in supporting green and circular economy initiatives. Applications will follow a two-phase process, beginning with the submission of a concept note by October 12, 2025, followed by a full proposal upon shortlisting.
