Description

Horizon Europe is the European Union's key funding program involved in research and innovation. It combats climate change, supports the achievement of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals as well as enhancing the EU's competitiveness and development.
Horizon Europe has launched a project entitled “Innovative energy storage systems onboard vessels (ZEWT Partnership)” the goal of which is to improve the climate and environmental footprint and facilitate the competitiveness of various modes of transport.
The outputs of the project are expected to lead to a number of outcomes listed below:
• Contributions to at least two exhaustive onboard demonstrators for two different electrical energy storage solutions by 2027. • Upgrading the level of efficiency and delivering neutral waterborne transport via the use of new innovative electrical storage systems. • Upscaling of verified solutions for a variety of ship types as an alternative to batteries. • Reaching a full understanding of potential new energy storage systems other than batteries and their use in waterborne transport. • Solutions to upgrade energy efficiency and develop climate-neutral waterborne transport.
The program is open to any legal entity, irrespective of its place of establishment. This includes legal entities coming from non-associated third countries or international organisations. The applicant must meet all the conditions found in the Horizon Europe Regulations. The deadline is April 26, 2022, 17:00:00 Brussels time.
