Qualifications and skills

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of climate action and greenhouse gas mitigation (as demonstrated   by   a   list   of   collaborations, workshops, presentations, or contributions to climate policy debates over this period).
  • Excellent fluency in written and spoken English; preferably capacity to work in other languages of the beneficiary countries to steer the project activities; required ability to travel to beneficiary countries.

General professional experience

  • Demonstrable capacity to efficiently manage a project that includes the use of modelling tools with a view of informing policy-making processes in the field of climate and energy, to be demonstrated by experience with at least one, and preferably more projects, with a minimum value of 300,000 Euros, within the past 5 years.
  • Demonstrable capacity to efficiently manage a project involving multiple counterparts/teams, including from developing countries, to be proven by experience with at least one, and preferably more projects, involving a team of at least 5 members, within the past 5 years.
  • Demonstrable capacity to communicate in non-technical terms economic modelling findings to policy makers to be demonstrated by a list of recent collaborations, workshops, presentations, or contributions to climate policy debates with partner countries.

Specific professional experience

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with energy and greenhouse gas policies (preferably also including land use, agriculture and air pollution) at an international scale and preferably also in more than one beneficiary country demonstrated by a selection of a few recent projects, publications or presentations demonstrating a good and strategic understanding of climate policy debates at global and regions levels, and of beneficiary countries' specific interests.
  • Demonstrable experience in capacity building in developing countries, as regards any of the following (as demonstrated by list of recent projects of this kind, and brief mention of the responsibility in the project):
  • model-based analysis of climate mitigation actions and/or
  • monitoring, reporting, and assessing greenhouse gas emission levels
  • developing climate mitigation policies and measures, national mitigation actions and commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • synergies, co-benefits and trade-offs between climate action and sustainable development
