Technical assistance on waste management and circular economy in Uruguay
Expert on circular economy and waste management
General description of the position: This key expert will be primarily responsible for supporting the actors involved, such as the Ministry of the Environment, the Congreso de Intendentes and the various departmental governments in the implementation of the National Waste Management Plan at local level. The more specific tasks are aimed at supporting the creation of a waste management information system; analysis and proposals on the issue of financial sustainability; support in the development of related regulations; facilitate experiences from other countries, mainly from the EU or the Region; and strengthening the capacities of the actors involved, among others.
Expert category: Cat. I (>12 years of experience)
Qualifications and skills required:
- Master degree or equivalent of at least 12 years of experience in a relevant area (Environment, Climate Change or other area closely related to waste management/circular economy); -Communication and team-work skills;
-Capacity to work with national and local public institutions on related public policies;
-Capacity to work with different actors and in diverse environments.
General professional experience:
-At least 12 years of experience in project management, public policies and/or consultancy work on related areas (environment, climate change, waste management/circular economy or closely related fields);
-Experience working with Local Authorities and/or on projects with a territorial approach is required;
Specific professional experience:
-Experience in the field of waste management.
- Specific knowledge on indicators, public policies, regulations and related areas.
Language skills: Advanced level of Spanish and English is required.
The working language with the national counterparts will be exclusively Spanish.
Number of working days: 60 days
