At Sagana Consulting we leverage our core investment and business building skills to advise blended finance providers (such as foundations, development agencies, DFIs and companies) to make the optimal impact with their resources. Our clients include organizations like the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation, BII, DFAT, responsAbility, the Gates Foundation, and Cartier Women’s Initiative.

Opportunity:

We seek to hire a consultant with an enthusiasm for impact to grow in our impact investing consulting practice. This person will support multiple projects simultaneously across a range of high-growth industries and client types. You will work closely with our clients to landscape impact investing opportunities, develop investment strategies, design and structure investment vehicles, support portfolio companies, and measure and supervise impact success. You will participate actively in promoting both business development and internal initiatives. Responsibilities:

• Provide impact investing consulting to development organizations, impact investors, DFIs, and foundations
• Work as part of project teams in conducting research and analysis of markets, sectors, companies, and business models – and in developing impact investing strategies, processes, and portfolios for clients
• Prioritize high-quality, on-time delivery across multiple projects at once
• Create and present compelling strategic guidance that results in win-win outcomes
• Work directly with purpose-driven portfolio companies to scale their businesses and impact
• Effectively develop and handle relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders – both to carry out projects and also to build Sagana’s network
• Own and create deliverables, working together with global team members and a project director
• Support the project director in interactions with the client
• Support consulting business development: maintain existing client relationships and identify new client relationships, and write proposals

Skills and Experience:

• Have at least 5 - 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience working in emerging markets.
• Can speak confidently about impact investing and blended finance. Have a familiarity with impact investing through conducting due diligence, or providing buy/sell advisory, or working at a fund, or guiding a social enterprise, etc.
• Proven previous experience in carrying out complex projects in the areas of strategy, finance, operations, and talent. You balance well.
• Experience working in or consulting on an area of impact you are excited about. We have a preference for depth of the following topics: gender lens investing, talent consulting, plastics and circular economy, renewable energy, food and agriculture, sustainable fashion, health, education, impact & measurement, ESG, blended finance, impact bonds.
• Ability to maintain effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, investors, sector experts, and policymakers. Experience with foundations and development agencies is added advantage. You work well across sectors.
• Experience as an entrepreneur or a solid entrepreneurial spirit. You get things done and dive deep into the work when necessary. You like to build new ventures. High-quality written and oral communication skills with the ability to formulate and present analysis and recommendations in a clear and concise manner. You value open, direct, and regular communication.
• Commitment to the highest quality of work with skilled attention to detail and follow-through. You hold yourself and your teammates to high-quality standards.
• Experience working remotely with global multi-cultural teams across various time zones. You are a global citizen.
• Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages is an added advantage.
