FEANTSA - WORKING TOGETHER TO FIGHT HOMELESSNESS IN EUROPE
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Start date: August 2023
Type of contract: full time (38h/week), project-based
Duration of contract: 10 months (August 2023 – May 2024)

Compensation: full-time salary, lunch vouchers and public transport allowance
As a Policy & Communications Advisor, you will be in charge of conceptualising and implementing a communication strategy and policy recommendations under the CANCERLESS project for FEANTSA. You will take part in a European consortium, and you will be responsible with implementation of concrete actions, with assistance from the FEANTSA secretariat.
With over 130 members across Europe, FEANTSA (the European Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless) is the only European NGO focusing specifically on ending homelessness. FEANTSA is a partner in the CANCERLESS project aimed at delivering an innovative solution as an aggregate intervention based on the combination of the tested Patient Navigator Model and Patient Empowerment Model to create the Health Navigator Model for Europe.
CANCERLESS includes partner organisations with long-standing experience in working on health and social care for people experiencing homelessness in the south, east, northwest and central Europe, and academic institutions and local governments.
PROFILE
You hold an academic degree in social sciences, public policies, or similar area;
You have at least 3 years relevant work experience;
You are experienced in conducting research and analysis;
Experience in project administration, communication and the organisation of meetings, drafting press releases, articles, blogs and other documents;
Good understanding of the functioning of the European institutions and EU policy making;
Excellent communication and public speaking skills as well as written English. Additional languages are an asset;
Interest in health and homelessness;
Independent worker, self-motivation, purpose-driven, ability to multi-task, prioritise tasks effectively and respect deadlines;
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a small, busy, international team.
Advantageous:
Professional/volunteer experience or academic understanding of homelessness;
Previous experience and/or studies in public health and/or policies;
Experience working in a (EU-level or national) not-for-profit or governmental organisation.
TASKS
Specific tasks will include:
Monitor EU policy development in connection to public health (in particular, the Europe Beating Cancer Plan and all related initiatives);
Carry out research, good practice collection and mapping exercises on inadequate housing, health situation of people experiencing homelessness with a focus on access to cancer care;
Identify opportunities and regularly engage with EU institutions to promote the inclusion of homelessness in relevant public health policies, focusing on cancer policies;
Co-responsibility for the preparation, organisation, and follow-up of events within the project (to be organised in Brussels);
Represent FEANTSA at events and in the CANCERLESS consortium;
Prepare project financial and technical reports, preparation of financial/administrative deliverables;
Develop a communication strategy to disseminate activities and results of the CANCERLESS project with the support of the communication team and the core team of the project;
Prepare material and engage with social media activity.
