Social Safeguard Specialist

Sheladia Associates is seeking a professional Social Safeguard Specialist to join our team for a road project in Uzbekistan.

The Social Safeguard Specialist will be responsible for 

(a) The development and implementation of the Project Monitoring System (PMS);

(b) Monitoring and evaluating HIV/AIDS/STI prevention programs and transmittable disease detection and prevention programs; and, if required, preparing supplements to the project's Resettlement Plan (RP) in the event that it becomes necessary to temporarily relocate people who could be affected by the blasting associated with the construction of the project's tunnels. Conduct regular field visits to ensure that impacts due to the project on the surrounding population is limited and/or avoided. The Specialist will coordinate with the Environmental Specialist and be responsible for E&S reporting required for the Consultant.

Required Qualifications:   

• The specialist must have minimum of 15 years of work experience including 8 years of international experience (at least 3 countries outside his/her home-country).
• Should have up-to-date knowledge of the WB, AIIB’s or ADB safeguards policies and procedures, particularly on social impact assessment, poverty assessment, land acquisition, and resettlement, preferably with a degree in social science.
• He/ She should have good knowledge of English language.
• Knowledge of Russian and local language/s will be a preference.
