Functional responsibilities

1. Substantive support to the Deputy Executive Director - Delivery and Partnerships

Provide analytical, coordination and planning support for deliverables under the responsibility of the Deputy Executive Director - Delivery and Partnerships. This includes monitoring and follow-up to ensure deadlines are met.

Identify and review quantitative and qualitative analytical inputs required to support the design, development and roll out of initiatives and/or recommendations.

Prepare briefing materials for the Deputy Executive Director’s meetings and events, including summarizing documents in a concise manner and highlighting key risks/issues/opportunities.

Draft statements, messages, briefs, and talking points for the Deputy Executive Director, ensuring they are of high quality in terms of relevance and timeliness. Provide other communication support as required.

Manage and support the official travel planning and high level missions for the DED liaising with relevant focal points. As necessary provide support on missions and other high-level engagements.

2. Senior management and analytical support in the Executive Office

Provide analytical support to senior officials in the Executive Office. Research options to facilitate strategic and informed decision-making.

Support the secretariat for UNOPS Management Team (including its working groups) and the Global Leadership Network.

Coordinate and provide support for corporate cross-functional initiatives which may include the planning and delivery of events and workshops.

Establish effective working relationships with senior managers and other key internal and external stakeholders.

3. Knowledge Management
Impact of Results The effective and successful achievement of results by the Management Specialist impacts the effectiveness and the image of UNOPS, thereby enhancing the trust in, and the credibility, of the organization, both internally and externally.

Education/Experience/Language requirements
Education
- Master's degree preferably in business administration, political science, international relations, Communications or related fields.
- A bachelor's degree with additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the master's degree.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, including project coordination and stakeholder management.
- Strong experience in Microsoft and Google Suite tools.
- Good knowledge of the UN system is required.
- Prior work within the United Nations is highly desirable
- Field experience is desirable.
Language Requirements
- Full working knowledge of English.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset
