Functional responsibilities


The purpose of this role is to support the development and implementation of OSET’s social media and digital strategy, focusing on enhancing global visibility and supporting the UN’s mission through effective digital engagement. This role requires a creative thinker who can consistently identify opportunities, create impactful content, and manage the organization’s online presence across platforms and engagements.

Social Media Strategy and Execution:

  • Support the development of innovative modern social media strategies, suitable for reaching OSET’s target audiences and using the full scope of available platforms and content formats.
  • Manage and execute the organization’s social media presence, ensuring alignment with overall communications goals.
  • Transform and establish OSET’s accounts into world-leading voices on technology and digital cooperation space.
  • Support all OSET team members in building their social media presence.


Content Development:

  • Facilitate content creation and posting, focusing on platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram and other visually compelling posts.
  • Support designing and optimizing visual assets for various platforms (e.g., social media, website, mobile, print), ensuring that visuals are tailored to platform-specific requirements and audience preferences.



Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Develop monitoring and reporting mechanisms and monitor social media performance metrics, engagement levels, and growth.
  • Provide regular performance reports to OSET’s leadership and provide feedback on communications strategies based on insights from analytics.
  • Develop and maintain internal/external repositories of communications materials, including articles, speeches, interviews, etc.


Public Engagement and Interaction:

  • Respond promptly to social media interactions, managing engagement and ensuring positive audience interactions.

  • Build relationships with followers and stakeholders through proactive engagement.

  • Manage negative online interactions or crises collaborating with the Communications Lead to ensure a timely and appropriate response.

a. Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) preferably in communications, business administration or related areas with zero years of relevant experience or
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) preferably in communications, business administration or related areas with 2 years of relevant experience are required.

b. Experience

Required

  • Relevant experience is defined as experience in communications, public relations, or media.
  • Experience in implementing social media strategies
  • Experience working with social media management tools
Desirable:(The following experience is optional. Candidates who do not have it are welcome to apply)
  • Experience in global digital diplomacy is desirable;
  • Experience in events management and coordination is desirable;
  • Experience using design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc., to create digital content.

c. Languages

  • Fluency in English (read, speak, write) is required.
  • Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an asset.
