Position Overview: The American University of Armenia (AUA) seeks applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor or Lecturer position for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the Turpanjian College of Health Sciences (CHS). The appointment title will be based on qualifications and experience. Physical presence in Yerevan, Armenia during the entire academic year is required. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.

About the Turpanjian College of Health Sciences: Established in 1995, the mission of the AUA CHS is to improve population health and health services in Armenia and beyond through interdisciplinary education, transformative research, and development of health professionals to become leaders in public health, nursing, health services research and evaluation, as well as health care delivery and management. CHS is actively engaged in an increasingly extensive portfolio of projects in Armenia and the region.  CHS collaborates with world renowned institutions of Nursing and Public Health. The BSN program at CHS was established in 2022 as the first accredited BSN program in Armenia. It is a bridging program intended for nurses who have a nursing diploma at the college level and want to obtain a higher education degree in nursing.

Key Responsibilities:

 Applicants will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in Nursing. The position offers an exciting opportunity for an academic scholar to:

  • teach undergraduate courses in nursing in the BSN program and advise students on capstone projects
  • mentor and motivate undergraduate nursing students
  • participate in the continuing development of the BSN program, including curriculum development and student recruitment
  • develop a program of research and participate in nursing research projects of the Avedisian Onanian Center for Health Services Research and Development (CHSR)
  • actively participate in faculty governance initiatives 
  • teach graduate courses in public health in applicant’s areas of expertise (if the applicant has a PhD).

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess most or all of the following qualifications:

  • Have an appropriate doctorate or master’s degree in Nursing or related field
  • If the doctoral or master’s degree is in health sciences (other than Nursing), the applicant must have at least a BSN degree with RN licensure
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience in nursing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Academic and teaching experience is highly preferable. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • A track record of scholarly work in establishing a successful program of funded research
  • The ability to contribute to diversity initiatives (including extending educational opportunities to students of diverse backgrounds) is highly desirable
