Description

Permanent employee, Full-time or part-time · Amsterdam

Who are we?
War Child Netherlands consists of over 50 dedicated professionals who are responsible for a large part of War Child Global's income, all fundraising activities in the Netherlands and for the positioning and reputation of the organization.

As Brand Communication & Content Lead, you are responsible for the strategic translation of our brand and content strategy. You will manage a small, creative team, consisting of a social media/website coordinator and two content creators. Together, you will bring the War Child story to life and connect people with our mission.

Who are we looking for?
You have an eye for detail, think strategically & creatively and know how to position a brand with powerful content in a competitive environment. You coordinate the execution of the content strategy, monitor our brand identity and proactively think about new projects and campaigns based on that objective. In doing so, you work closely with (international) colleagues from the communication & advocacy, fundraising and program implementation team.
In addition, as lead brand communication & content you know how to navigate well between the complexity and sensitivity of working in conflict areas. Ethical communication is central to everything you do.

What are you bringing?

Extensive experience in brand and content strategies, preferably in the humanitarian or social sector.
You have a strategic view, think creatively and are happy to get your hands dirty: if a ceasefire is imminent, your communication plan is already ready.
You are results-oriented and know how to motivate and inspire a team to achieve ambitious goals.
Switching quickly and working under pressure is no problem for you – you know how to set priorities and meet deadlines.

Your responsibilities
You strengthen and monitor brand positioning: You measure, know, share results, and optimize content and (campaign) results.
You identify and collect content opportunities within the organization, by working closely with various operational and/or international colleagues.
You inspire and coach your team so that together you can work on producing on-brand, impactful content.
You coordinate and proactively contribute to the development and implementation of (new) communication concepts and campaigns.
Coordinating project schedules and budgets.

Your profile
You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position (preferably as Brand Manager, Content Strategist or in another marketing communications related role).
You have a HBO/WO work and thinking level, preferably in Marketing & Communications.
Experience in the humanitarian sector is a plus. You are analytically strong, organisationally sensitive and guard the brand identity of War Child with conviction.
You have a sharp pen and an excellent command of the Dutch (essential) and English languages.

What we offer
Salary ranges from €4305 to €5353 gross per month, based on 40 hours per week (the exact amount is determined by the years of your relevant work experience)
8% holiday allowance based on the annual salary
An employment contract for 32 hours
29 days of vacation per year on a full-time basis (of which 3 predetermined days off)
A pension scheme fully paid for by War Child
Net contribution to home working and travel expenses according to our hybrid work policy
Monthly mobile phone allowance of €25 net per month
Good informal atmosphere in a growing, innovative organization that is passionate about the mental well-being of children growing up with war.

How to apply
Apply quickly, but no later than March 24, 2025. Upload your CV (maximum two pages) and motivation. You can send your motivation in a creative way: in text, image or video, but always in PDF. Applications will be considered when they are received and we will start an interview as soon as a suitable candidate(s) applies. The selection procedure consists of 2 rounds of interviews and an assignment.

Over ons

Our organization
War Child is a dynamic organization with an informal atmosphere and plenty of room for creativity and personal initiative. The image that War Child projects externally is a blueprint of the work at the head office: it is dynamic, innovative, honest and focused on achieving results at low costs. War Child spends as much of its budget as possible on helping children in war zones and therefore does everything it can to keep costs as low as possible. Our employment conditions are at the level of the Dutch NGO sector. The office is located in the Amsterdam district of Watergraafsmeer. We work in a hybrid way, with a combination of home, office and of course sometimes on the road to clients in this role.

Safety
War Child operates on the basis of humanitarian values and standards. We ask the same of potential new colleagues. For War Child, the safety of the children and young people we support is paramount. We combat any form of abuse. Because we want children and young people to run no risk, this is discussed extensively when recruiting new colleagues. As part of applications, we therefore ask for references based on the Inter-Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme and a recent Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG).

Equal opportunities
War Child dreams that all children can live in peace, whoever they are and wherever they grow up. That is why War Child is proud to offer equal opportunities to everyone who wants to work with us. We promote diversity and want everyone to feel at home with us. War Child selects potential new colleagues regardless of their gender, race, nationality, disability, age and/or sexual preference.

Applications
We spend as much of our income as possible on supporting children and young people. That is why we work efficiently. This means that we only consider applications that we receive via our websites. If we find a suitable person before the closing date, we will remove the vacancy from our websites. We will no longer be able to process applications that we receive later.
