Social Media Manager

About MAGENTA

MAGENTA is a women-owned and women-led social and behaviour change (SBC) agency that specializes in understanding human decision-making processes to design and deliver complex research and implementation programs in development, fragile, and conflict-affected environments. MAGENTA brings together a team of experts with collective experience of over 30 years in developing evidence-based SBC strategies and delivering impactful communications. Headquartered in Amman, Jordan and operating across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America, MAGENTA has delivered over 300 projects over the last 8 years.

About the Project

The European Union Delegation to Jordan, through its Regional Media Office, is seeking creative production support to enhance its Arabic-language digital presence across the MENA region. The project aims to strengthen public awareness and positive perceptions of the EU by producing and disseminating engaging, timely, and culturally resonant content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X. The content will showcase EU initiatives, partnerships, and impacts in the region, and foster meaningful engagement with audiences through community management, paid advertising, and strategic communications. All content will be developed in Modern Standard Arabic, with occasional use of regional dialects, and must align with the EU’s political sensitivities, narrative framing, and platform-specific guidelines.

About the Social Media Manager Role

MAGENTA is looking to hire a strategic, creative, and detail-oriented part-time Social Media Manager to lead the digital communication efforts for the EU-funded project. This role will play a central part in translating communication objectives into dynamic and engaging content across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X. The ideal candidate will be deeply familiar with digital trends and audience behaviour in the region, and able to manage planning, publishing, and performance tracking of content in close coordination with our internal design and operations teams, and a content designer.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Content Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and maintain a monthly Arabic content calendar, aligned with the digital communication strategy.

  • Coordinate the timely production and delivery of diverse assets (videos, carousels, GIFs, visuals) with the content designer and internal team.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to integrate relevant EU events, milestones, and strategic priorities into content planning.

Strategy Implementation

  • Translate the communication objectives into actionable digital plans and campaign ideas.

  • Contribute to refining the messaging approach across platforms, tailoring tone and content formats to each channel.

  • Monitor social media trends and audience insights in the MENA region to inform content design and engagement tactics.

Content Management & Publishing

  • Write and adapt platform-appropriate captions in Modern Standard Arabic, with occasional use of dialects where relevant.

  • Schedule and publish posts across agreed platforms using native tools or a content scheduler.

  • Ensure all content complies with EU political sensitivities and branding guidelines.

Community Engagement

  • Monitor and respond to direct messages, comments, mentions, and shares, using pre-approved language where needed.

  • Flag inappropriate or harmful content for review and escalate in line with established crisis protocols.

  • Coordinate updates to account information (bios, links, profile visuals) as required.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Draft quarterly performance reports summarising reach, engagement, content performance, and audience insights.

  • Recommend evidence-based improvements to content strategy based on analytics.

Profile Specifications

  • Language: Native Arabic speaker with excellent writing and editing skills in Modern Standard Arabic; strong working knowledge of English.

  • Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience in managing Arabic social media channels, ideally in the development, media, or public sector.

  • Digital fluency: Strong grasp of platform-specific content strategies, engagement tactics, and analytics (particularly for Facebook, Instagram, X).

  • Content-savvy: Able to translate communication strategies into engaging post formats and campaigns.

  • Collaborative mindset: Comfortable working cross-functionally with designers, project managers, and external partners.

  • Sensitivity: Demonstrated understanding of political and cultural sensitivities when crafting public messaging for institutional clients.

  • Tools: Proficiency in scheduling and analytics tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Buffer, Hootsuite); Canva skills are a plus.

Operational Considerations

  • This is a part-time position requiring an estimated 15–20 hours per week, with flexibility based on campaign cycles and content volume.

  • The Social Media Manager will work remotely, with occasional in-person meetings or collaborative working days in Amman as required.

  • The consultant is expected to be responsive and available across the working week to support content scheduling, community engagement, and crisis communication needs.

  • Deliverables will follow a monthly and quarterly rhythm, including content calendars, live content oversight, and performance reports.

Instructions to Submit Applications

MAGENTA requests that interested individuals submit an application including:

  • CV or portfolio highlighting relevant experience with Arabic-language social media in the MENA region,

  • Proposed monthly rate based on an estimated commitment of 15–20 hours per week

  • Relevant references or previous campaigns managed.

Applications should be submitted to mustafa@magentaconsulting.org and khaled@magentaconsulting.org with raya@magentaconsulting.org in copy, with the subject “Social Media Manager Application”. Applications must be submitted by 18 July 2025, 5:00pm Amman time.
