Assignment Title: Junior Evaluation Specialist

Overview:

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a multilateral organization with a joint mandate under the United Nations and World Trade Organization to deliver assistance to Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to enhance their participation in the world economy and improve the international competitiveness of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in LDCs.

IBTCI is seeking qualified Junior Evaluation Specialists to support ITC’s Independent Evaluation Unit in conducting various types of evaluations, including corporate, thematic, programmatic, and project-level assessments.

This position is contingent upon ITC award.

Scope of Work:

  • Assist in the development of data collection tools and protocols, including survey questionnaires, focus group discussion guides, key informant interview guides, observation check lists, desk review matrixes, etc.
  • Assist in the development of the evaluation methodology design and a workplan.
  • Participate in site visits to project activities and conduct data collection in the field.
  • Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative analysis of collected data.
  • Conduct validation workshops with ITC and other stakeholders.
  • Support the development of deliverables, including evaluation reports and presentations with evaluation findings.
  • This position does not authorize/require the consultant to have decision making authority on final work product.

Preferred Experience:

  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality technical outputs within budget and contractual parameters.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced, remote team environments.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience, including leading evaluations related to trade issues, export development, and/or MSME development in an international development context.
  • Strong working knowledge of UN evaluation norms and standards.
  • Demonstrated professional experience conducting desk research and writing assessment reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Strong capabilities in MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality output under tight timelines.
  • Oral and written fluency in English required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in economics or a related field; Master’s degree strongly preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Requirements: This is largely a sedentary position that requires the ability to speak, hear, see, and lift small objects up to 20 lbs.

Travel: No travel is required.
