Project Background
Egypt is committed to sustainable industrial development and green transformation.
Under the Private Sector Innovation Project II (PSI II), GIZ supports the creation of an enabling environment for Sustainable Industrial Areas (SIAs) that promote resource efficiency, competitiveness, and environmental and social responsibility.
This assignment aims to contribute to the regulatory framework for SIAs by:
- Building a shared understanding among key stakeholders,
- Enhancing institutional capacities, and
- Supporting the adoption of changes to the national regulatory framework for sustainable industrial development.
Tasks and Responsibilities of KE 1 Team Leader and Technical Director:
- Provide overall leadership and guidance for the project implementation.
- Manage the project team and coordinate the input of all other experts.
- Provide technical guidance and input related to sustainable industrial areas development and management.
- Develop the project work plan and ensure its timely execution.
- Manage stakeholder mapping and analysis.
- Manage public–private exchange meetings and consultations.
- Manage the development of recommendations for minimum sustainability requirements.
- Provide high-level advice and coaching to industrial park managers and developers.
- Ensure the development and delivery of capacity-building programs.
- Provide high-level advice and coaching to decision-makers.
- Ensure the quality of all project outputs and deliverables.
- Liaise with GIZ and key stakeholders on project progress and challenges.
- Ensure the quality of project reports and contribute to knowledge dissemination.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education / Training:
- Master’s degree in Natural Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, Business Administration, or Economics.
Language:
- C2-level proficiency in English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
General Professional Experience:
- 10 years of professional experience in the field of sustainable industrial development.
Specific Professional Experience:
- At least 3 work references in cooperation with or consulting of industrial areas and their management.
- At least 2 work references in the development or implementation of frameworks, standards, guidelines, or policies related to sustainable industrial development.
- At least 2 work references related to the (master-)planning or zoning of new industrial areas.
Leadership / Management Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of management experience in projects, companies, or organisations managing a team of at least 5 staff members.
International Professional Experience:
- At least 2 international work references outside the MENA region on relevant topics (as listed above).
Regional / Country Experience:
- 3 work references in the MENA region, including 1 in Egypt.
Experience in Development Cooperation:
- At least 2 years of professional experience in development cooperation projects.
