Project Background

Egypt is committed to sustainable industrial development and green transformation.
Under the Private Sector Innovation Project II (PSI II), GIZ supports the creation of an enabling environment for Sustainable Industrial Areas (SIAs) that promote resource efficiency, competitiveness, and environmental and social responsibility.

This assignment aims to contribute to the regulatory framework for SIAs by:

• Building a shared understanding among key stakeholders,
• Enhancing institutional capacities, and
• Supporting the adoption of changes to the national regulatory framework for sustainable industrial development.

Tasks and Responsibilities of Expert 4 Senior Expert on Environmental Sustainability and Industrial Ecology:

·       Provide technical input on environmental aspects of Sustainable Industrial Areas.

·       Contribute to the development of recommendations for environmental sustainability requirements.

·       Support in reviewing, assessing, and transferring international best practices to the local context. International experience is beneficial for achieving this task.

·       Support the development of capacity-building materials on environmental management in industrial areas.

·       Participate in stakeholder consultations and provide technical expertise.

·       Contribute to the preparation of project reports and technical briefs.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education / Training:

·       Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Ecology, or a related field.

 

Language:

·       C1-level proficiency in English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

·       C2-level proficiency in Arabic (Fosha or Egyptian dialect) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

General Professional Experience:

·       8 years of professional experience in environmental sustainability issues related to industrial development.

Specific Professional Experience:

·       3 work references related to environmental management (e.g., resource efficiency, waste management, pollution control, environmental impact assessments) in the context of industrial parks or areas.

International Professional Experience:

·       2 international work references on environmental sustainability issues related to industrial development (outside of Egypt).

Regional / Country Experience:

·       2 work references on environmental sustainability issues related to industrial development in Egypt.

Experience in Development Cooperation:

·       2 work references in the field of development cooperation.

Other:

·       2 work references regarding environmental regulations, standards, and policies relevant to industrial areas.

·       2 work references regarding industrial ecology or circular economy principles.
