Project Overview
The SWITCH to Circular Economy Value Chains (SWITCH2CE) programme aims to support SME (micro, small and medium-sized enterprise) suppliers in developing countries, integrated into the value chains of major European manufacturers and buyers, in order to jointly identify, adopt and master circular economy practices.
The transition to a circular economy is essential for generating economic, environmental and social benefits, thereby contributing significantly to poverty reduction. SWITCH supports and facilitates the implementation of effective and replicable pilot projects, involving all relevant stakeholders within targeted value chains, and enabling companies to achieve their circularity objectives. In this context, the European Investment Bank (EIB), with the support of the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (FS), aims to strengthen the integration of the circular economy into banking financing practices.
Overall Objectives
The main objective of this mission is to provide strategic and technical support in three areas:
1.Development of case studies illustrating circular economic models;
2.Support for the finalisation of training modules incorporating these case studies;
3.Joint development of a pipeline of bankable projects in the circular economy.
A fourth cross-cutting component is dedicated to knowledge transfer to the NSCE consultancy.
Description of Activities

▪ Identify suppliers of technical solutions (equipment, services, technologies);
▪ Quantify savings in terms of: raw materials, water consumption, waste generation and management
▪ Outline other benefits: reduction in pollution, GHG emissions, etc.;
▪ Estimate the payback period;
▪ Identify gains in competitiveness, including in exports.
The case studies will be used to enhance the training modules developed by FS prior to their roll-out :
▪ The service provider will carry out a critical review of the training content;
▪ Suggestions for adjustments or improvements will be made (content, structure, teaching methods)

▪ Technical discussions on the identified projects;
▪ Collaborative workshops;
▪ Provision of methodological tools.
