Project objectives

Strengthening Uzbekistan’s vocational education system through the development of labour market-oriented dual training in sustainable agriculture, improving practical agricultural skills, employability, and cooperation between vocational institutions and the private sector. The project involves:

  1.  Development of an occupational standard for the new profession of Sustainable Farmer based on German/EU models. 
  2.   Design of a dual vocational curriculum in sustainable agriculture in cooperation with Uzbek stakeholders. 
  3. Development of practical teaching and learning materials for trainers and students.
  4. Capacity building of VET personnel and in-company trainers for pilot implementation.
  5.  Pilot rollout in selected regions, strengthening cooperation between schools and agricultural enterprises. 
  6. Facilitation of knowledge exchange, including a study visit to Germany and support for scaling-up and institutional adoption. 

The project is envisaged to start in July 2026 with an expected duration until June 2028. The project is funded through GIZ.

Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. in Agriculture
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the sustainable agriculture sector
  • 7 years professional experience in technical Vocational Education and Training
  • 5 years of leadership/management experience as project team leader or manager in a company
  • 8 years of professional experience in projects in the Central Asia, of which 3 years in projects in Uzbekistan
  • 10 years of professional experience in Development Cooperation projects
  • C1 level language proficiency in English

Tasks:

  •      Overall responsibility for the advisory packages of the contractor (quality and deadlines)
  •         Coordinating and ensuring communication with GIZ, partners and others involved in the project
  •         Personnel management, in particular identifying the need for short-term assignment within the available budget, as well as planning and steering assignments and supporting local and international short-term experts
  •      Participation in the development and elaboration of the professional standard and related curricular
  •           Regular reporting in accordance with deadlines
