South Asia has a combined population of 1.9 billion people, accounting for over 20 percent of the world’s total population. Still recovering from the pandemic, prospects of an economic rebound in South Asia are firming up as the region is projected to grow by 6.6 percent in 2022 and by 6.3 percent in 2023. Additionally, India’s economy, which is South Asia’s largest, is expected to grow by 8.3 percent in 2021 to 2022.

British Expertise International is delighted to be hosting the annual “Meet the Ambassadors” series. Join the webinar as British Ambassadors and High Commissioners from the South Asia region share some insights on their respective countries’ geopolitical and economic perspectives as well as a general overview on sectors of potential interest to UK companies.

Though GDP growth in South Asia continues to be on a solid path amidst the recovery, countries in the region face their own challenges going ahead. Growth in South Asia, which is already fragile, will be slower than previously projected, due to the impacts of the war in Ukraine and persistent economic challenges. Nevertheless, exports of services from the region are on the rise.

The region offers a wide range of valuable opportunities for UK businesses in sectors including, but not limited to, agriculture/agritech, education, healthcare, water, energy, transportation, and of course infrastructure.

Climate action in the region is accelerating towards a greener, climate-resilient, low-carbon future through the prioritisation of climate-adapted social protection systems and infrastructure as well as the renewable energy transition, and a shift in their food and agricultural systems.
