About
AHEAD was established by a group of experienced, professional and dedicated social workers in Afghanistan in 2008, and was registered under license number 1259 with the Ministry of Economy of the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
AHEAD is a non-governmental, non-political and non-for profit organization that aims to contribute to improvement of social welfare, education, social development, civil society development and public health in the urban, rural and least advantaged areas of Afghanistan.
In AHEAD we believe that in order to effectively contribute to development in Afghanistan, especially in remote areas, it is important to merge the theoretical knowledge of well-educated technical staff members with practical experience of those who have worked in the field and understands the local context well. To this end we believe that the development work need to be informed by the ongoing socio-cultural and political changes at the national and sub-national level. We also believe that each developmental project has to take into consideration role of community, cultural and religious, influential leaders.
AHEAD started its journey of serving Afghanistan in 2008 by provision of short and medium term training to employees of public and private sector in the areas of Financial Management, Business Management and Supervisory Skills; These activities were all funded by private funds of the board of governors / founders of AHEAD. Followed by the initial activity in 2008, AHEAD has until now implemented over 40 small and large-scale projects funded by major donors in Afghanistan.
