Freedom Now is a non-governmental organization founded in 2000 in Washington, DC, USA that is committed to protecting human rights and the rule of law through the elimination of political harassment and the imprisonment of those who do not deserve to be there. The NGO’s partners include Amnesty International, Impact Iran, Crude Accountability, Human Rights Watch among others. Over 350 clients avoided spending their lives prison due to the Ngo’s high-leverage advocacy.

Freedom Now fights to end arbitrary detention and global repression. It serves individuals who have been mistakenly imprisoned around the world, seeking freedom from detention and justice for the violation of solemn rights. Freedom Now has assisted 92 prisoners in Africa, 2 in both of Americas, 27 in Asia, 55 in Europe and Central Asia and 14 in Middle East and North Africa.

The NGO achieves its strategic goals through the pro bono legal representation of prisoners of conscience and providing capacity-building analysis and assistance, global advocacy initiatives and research centred on human rights issues, repressive laws and government tactics.

Through its legal activities, Freedom Now obtains redress for victims of unlawful detention and other abuse such as persecution, oppression and torture. Its efforts not only liberate people but also consolidate respect for international human rights law and institutions. Freedom Now mobilizes strong voices by interacting with key institutions, government officials and citizens.
