About
On the territory of today's village of Šávoľ there was a settlement in the Neolithic - there was a settlement of the Bukovo Mountains culture, the Great Moravian Settlement. The village developed from an older settlement, indirectly documented from 1332-1337. The old and foreign names of the village were: Saal (1384), Sawol (1435), Füleksávoly in Hungarian. The current name of the village of Šavoľ dates from 1920. It belonged to the Fiľakovský manor. In the years 1553-1593 it was occupied by the Turks, who were defeated by Tiefenbach in 1593 in the village of this village. In 1828, the village had 56 houses and 468 inhabitants. They were engaged in agriculture. In the years 1938-1944 it was attached to Hungary.
