About

The Research and Development Institute (Nitlapan) of the Central American University (UCA) has been present in Nicaragua since 1988. It specializes in researching, creating, and disseminating new models and methodologies for local, rural, and urban development. Nitlapan is diverse in its work, it works with different approaches: territorial development and microfinance plus; and transversally, gender, social inclusion and environmental sustainability. Within this diversity, it promotes processes that contribute to the reduction of exclusions and inequalities in their different expressions, the strengthening of management capacities, organization, incorporation and management of new productive technologies with friendly and respectful agricultural practices with the environment.
As an Institute that is part of the Society of Jesus, people are at the center of our actions. We are committed to a socio-constructivist methodology that is based on three dimensions of Ignatian Pedagogy: experience (context), reflection and action.
