HISS - Hellenic Institute for the Study of Sepsis / Elliniko Instituto Meletis Tis Sipsis

The Hellenic Institute for the Study of Sepsis has a central management acting as a Clinical Research Organization allowing the daily contact with the administration of the hospitals of the collaborating study sites. Management comprises organization of conferences and workshops, drafting of protocols, submissions for Institutional and Regulatory approval, monitoring services, central lab facility, secretarial facilities and electronic portal facilities.

The educational activities of the Hellenic Institute for the Study of Sepsis comprise the organization of: a) 10 conferences/workshops in Greece; b) the international conference on Bloodstream Infections in Vravrona in June 2015; and c) the support of the publication of two bulletins for the management of sepsis in March 2014 and June 2017.

The research activities of the Hellenic Institute for the Study of Sepsis comprise a) continuing support to the investigators of the Hellenic Sepsis Study Group; b) four completed clinical studies and five ongoing clinical studies in Greece; one of the clinical studies is also running in Belgium; d) provision of grants for the support of research in the field of sepsis and systemic inflammation; and e) support of original publications in international peer-reviewed medical journals.
