SINTEF Building Research AS

SINTEF is one of Europe’s largest independent research organisations. Every year we carry out several thousand projects for customers large and small. For more than 70 years, SINTEF has developed solutions and innovation for society and customers all over the world. This is how we have become a world-leading research institute. We conduct contract R&D as a partner for the private and public sectors, and we are one of the largest contract research institutions in Europe.

On January 1, 2006, the 150 staff of the Norwegian Building Research Institute joined forces with 120 employees of SINTEF’s building and construction research groups to form a new division in the SINTEF Group. SINTEF Building and Infrastructure will be a complete research institute serving the building, construction and housing sectors.

SINTEF  completes the staffing of the new division with its Departments of Architecture and Building Technology, Rock and Geotechnology, Concrete, the Coast and Harbour Laboratory, Road and Railway Technology, Water and Environmental Engineering and Energy and Climate Technology.
