About

The Principal Hospital of Dakar, inaugurated in 1884 (military hospital), has been since 2000, like all the other hospitals in the country, a public health establishment, but with a special status: it remains under the supervision of the Ministry of Armed forces.

In 2004, the Main Hospital acquired its autonomy. Most of the posts of head of service and head of department are now held by Senegalese officers. The paramedical and common services personnel are mainly civilians and Senegalese.
