Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International (originally the Digit Fund) (Rwanda)

The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International (originally the Digit Fund) is a charity for the protection of endangered mountain gorillas. The Digit Fund was created by Dr. Dian Fossey in 1978 for the sole purpose of financing her anti-poaching patrols and preventing further poaching of the mountain gorillas. Our team supports the Rwandan government by protecting roughly half of the gorilla families living in Rwanda. 

Goals:

• Continue work with the Rwandan government to protect the mountain gorillas from threats to their survival.
• Train the next generation of local scientists and conservationists locally.
• Help educate local communities about gorillas, conservation and their role in protecting natural resources.
• Help communities thrive through education and livelihood efforts.
• Conduct cutting-edge science aimed at developing effective conservation strategies.
