About

In 1987, David Parry and Mike Murray-Hudson founded Ecosurv in Maun, Botswana to fill the void for locally based ecological and environmental planning and services. In the beginning David and Mike worked mostly on wildlife management and protected areas around Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta - one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.Soon the environmental sector in Botswana and southern Africa expanded, and the scope of work broadened to include environmental impact assessments, provisions of environmental support to government, community based management of natural resources and environmental policy development. To service these growing needs Ecosurv established an office in Gaborone, Botswana’s capital, in 1990.The Ecosurv family has continued to grow -  establishing a highly qualified team to offer advice and support to private companies and governments. Over the decades Ecosurv has been instrumental in the development of environmental policy and protection in Botswana/southern Africa, most notably in being part of the development of the Botswana Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association (BEAPA).The Ecosurv family is proud of its local roots in Botswana. Ecosurv is majority Botswana owned. We have concentrated our work nearly entirely within Africa and look forward to continuing this commitment to our local environment and communities, as we continue to develop policy and strategy undertake environment impact and contribute to sustainability, as well as more global issues surrounding climate change.
