About
The MALTA WOMEN’S LOBBY (MWL) previously known as the Malta Confederation of Women’s Organisations (MCWO) is an umbrella organisation that works in the area of women’s rights. It acts as a national forum with the aim of raising awareness and lobbying for effective change in matters related to gender equality between women and men.
The organisation was established in 2004 and has since been a member of the European Women’s Lobby. Through its member organisations today it represents over 24,000 women. Its founding members were: Dr Anna Borg, Dr Romina Bartolo and Ms Maria Bartolo Galea. .
In October 2020, a group of young women with an interest in gender issues, came together to form a new group called SOFIA (Strong Optimistic Feminist Inspiring Activists) within the MALTA WOMEN’S LOBBY. The aim of this group is to work on projects which primarily target the younger generation.
