GITMO - Gruppo Italiano per il Trapianto di Midollo Osseo, cellule staminali emopoietiche e terapia cellulare

GITMO was founded in 1987 as a meeting point for doctors and nurses involved in bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell transplants used for the treatment of haematological, oncological and genetic pathologies and which today almost 100 Italian Transplant Programs adhere to. The association pursues exclusively social solidarity purposes, is not for profit and has as its purpose the development and technological progress of bone marrow and hematopoietic stem cell transplants, from whatever source they come from as well as the development of the biological basis.

The purpose of the association concerns the educational aspects, the standardization of procedures, the quality control towards doctors, researchers and nurses within the Transplant Program and includes, in a non-prevalent way, clinical and basic research. It also proposes to disseminate scientific information, organizing conferences, maintaining relationships with universities, ministries of reference, national and international bodies characterized by similar purposes.
