About

The Bund der Deutschen Katholische Jugend (BDKJ) stands for self-organized youth association work in the Catholic Church. As the umbrella organization of 17 Catholic youth organizations, in which around 660,000 children and young people aged 7 to 28 are organized, its most important task is to represent the interests of its members in politics, church and society.

BDKJ takes care of securing financial support and supports the Catholic youth organizations as an umbrella organization in many matters. As one of the largest youth organizations in the German Federal Youth Council (DBJR), the BDKJ is actively involved in youth policy issues. In addition, the BDKJ represents the Catholic youth in the Central Committee of German Catholics (ZdK) and is therefore an important voice of German lay Catholicism.
