Syngenta has a rich history of over 50 years of operations in Bangladesh, amid several mergers and acquisitions globally during the period. Syngenta AG is a global agrochemical company based in Basel, Switzerland and one of the leading agriculture companies in the world. Syngenta was formed in 2000 by the merger of Novartis Agribusiness and Astra Zeneca Agrochemicals. Delving into Syngenta history of operation in Bangladesh, Ciba-Geigy which was a result of a merger between the two entities Ciba and Geigy in 1970. Ciba-Geigy started its operation in Bangladesh in 1973 after the independence of the country. Then Ciba-Geigy merged with Sandoz and formed Novartis in 1996. However, after 4 years, Novartis Agribusiness and Astra Zeneca Agrochemicals merged again in 2000 to form Syngenta.
