PPH Unika Atma Jaya

The forerunner of the HIV AIDS Research Center of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia (PPH UAJ) is a collaborative project between UNIKA Atma Jaya and the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), with funding support from the  Global Partnershops for Social Science AIDS Research – US National Institute of Health  (US NIH) in 2007, to increase capacity in the field of HIV AIDS research.

PPH UAJ was officially established on April 10 2010 as a form of contribution and attention from UNIKA Atma Jaya academics in overcoming the problem of HIV AIDS and drugs in Indonesia through research, capacity building and community service. We focus on policy and social behavioral research related to HIV AIDS, reproductive and sexual health, as well as civil society participation in the development of the health sector and HIV programs. 

PPH UAJ aims to: (1) Provide scientific knowledge products through research, knowledge dissemination in the form of seminars, workshops,  lecture series , and national discussion forums within the scope of public health policy in general and various HIV/AIDS problems in Indonesia in particular; (2) Strengthen the capacity of civil society, government and the private sector in developing research and public health programs in general and HIV/AIDS issues in particular.

On July 15 2020, PPH was inaugurated as a science-oriented Center for Excellence in Higher Education Science and Technology (PUI-PT) by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Directorate General of Higher Education under the name  PUI-PT PPH Center for Excellence in Health Policy and Social Innovation, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia
